November 1 is the day when we remember the ones who departed, in Transylvania, the north-west of Romania. Every year my parents go to the cemetery to light candles for their parents and grandparents. I have accompanied them for a great part of my life, first as child, then as a teenager and now as an adult. I could never mirror their sorrow. Instead I would experience every time a strange silent joy of being with them and the whole family. Aunts, uncles and people that sometimes don't talk to each other get together to celebrate the dead.
